Submissions to The International Lawyer

The International Lawyer welcomes the submission of original articles, comments, and notes. Articles submitted for publication should not exceed 10,000 words (including footnotes). Text and footnotes should be double-spaced. Footnotes must conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (most recent edition) (Harvard Law Review Association). The International Lawyer does not accept unsolicited student-written submissions nor does it consider articles or reports that have been or are to be published elsewhere.

All article submissions must be sent in an electronic Word format. Submit to eic-til@mail.smu.edu or send a hard copy with an electronic Word-formatted copy of the article to:
Editor-in-Chief
The International Lawyer
Southern Methodist University School of Law
P.O. Box 750116
Dallas, TX 75275

Manuscripts receive peer review, which usually takes three (3) to four (4) weeks. Publication is normally nine (9) to twelve (12) months after a manuscript is accepted. The editors of The International Lawyer reserve the right to move an accepted manuscript from the committed issue to a later issue.

Submissions to The Law & Business Review of the Americas

The editors will consider for publication manuscripts by contributors from any country. Articles will be subjected to a professional review procedure. The authors should ensure that the significance of a contribution will be apparent to readers outside the specific expertise. Special terms and abbreviations should be clearly defined in the text or notes.

Accepted manuscripts will be edited, if necessary, to improve the journal’s effectiveness of communication. If editing should be extensive, with a consequential danger of alternating the meaning, the manuscript will be returned to author for approval before type is set. Alternatively, the manuscript may be returned to the author to address the deficiencies. In all events, the editors reserve the right, after discussion with the author, to change its acceptance decision for good reason or to move a publication from one issue to later or earlier issue. The editors will not accept unsolicited student-written submission, nor will they consider articles or reports that have been or are to be published elsewhere or materials prepared for one’s clients or business promotion.

Manuscripts may be submitted electronically or in hard copy.
Online submission is managed through the law journal submission system, ExpressO.

Hard copies of manuscripts, along with a corresponding computer cd or dvd, can be submitted in duplicate, together with a covering letter, to:

Law and Business Review of the Americas
SMU Dedman School of Law
3315 Daniel Avenue
Dallas, TX 75275-4330
(214)768-4297 fax(214)768-3946
lbra-eic@list.smu.edu

At the time the manuscript is submitted, written assurance must be given that the article has not been published, submitted or accepted elsewhere. The author normally will be notified of acceptance, rejection or need for revision within 8-12 weeks.

Authors are requested to submit two copies of their manuscript, typed in double space, together with a summary of the contents. Manuscripts may range from 6,000 from 10,000 words, approximately 20-30 pages in length. However, longer articles are accepted based upon topic, quality, and space availability. The title of the article should begin with a word useful in indexing and information retrieval. Short titles are used as running heads. All notes should be numbered in sequential order, as cited in the text, and should be typed in double-spaced on a separate page. Unless for good reason acceptable to the editors, endnotes for legal articles should conform to a uniform system of citation (The Harvard Bluebook, 16th ed..). For nonlegal articles, the citations should be internally consistent within the given article. The author should submit short biographical data including his or her affiliation.

Submissions to The ILRA Forum

The ILRA Forum is an online news source compiled by staff members of the International Law Review Association.  Forum topics have a broad range, focusing on anything that is legal and international in nature.  Content for the forum is most often supplied by the ILRA staff and SMU professors, but submissions from anyone are welcome.  Decisions on submissions for publication are made by the ILRA Tech Editor working in conjunction with the TIL and LBRA Editors-in-Chief.  To submit an article for potential publication within the ILRA Forum, please email a draft or topic description to the ILRA Tech Editor.

Articles may range from several short paragraphs to many pages in length, and should include standard reference notations in typical bluebook format.  Since the forum postings do not undergo substantial editing by the staff prior to publication, the final version supplied by the author is expected to be edited and include appropriate citations.
